HE WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT . . . As a character in Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes tale, “The Adventure of the Red-Headed League”. The sitter was identified in the bottom of his sixth plate full leather case, “T. R. Gilmore Oskaloosa Iowa”! The town is equal distance from Iowa City, to the southwest and Des Moines to the southeast. A cross-roads place then when he was taken circa 1853 +- and even today. I simply couldn?t replicate the redness of the gent?s hair and beard color in my pixels reproduction. However, the next collector will surely be impressed when his fine leather case is opened. The holographic likeness has beautiful patina and perfect condition!
