IN A BOSTON CASE! Surrounded by patina and vignetted along the bottom of the re-cleaned and restored sixth plate daguerreotype an unidentified subject was placed on a double-silvered plate. He certainly was a very intellectual chap in appearance! The man was most likely daguerreotyped in Boston late in the daguerreian era. I am NOT certain which shop was responsible but if I had to make an educated guess, I would say John Whipple. The fellow is kept in a black leather Boston style push button case. After conservation the vignetted gent was in pristine condition! The quality of this daguerreotype presents professionalism at the apex of the art.
