Or the lack of focus on the subject?s face. I suspect the man realized his deficiencies in the production and swayed his client into paying for the resealed likeness by cleverly painting her ribbons, jewelry and face. How I really enjoy owning images produced about 1850 that displayed such crudeness and what was still acceptable in rural America! All the white specks were magnified by my scanner!
