LAID TO REST. This resealed sixth plate daguerreotype was a low, angled, dynamic view of a man who shall never awake again. The gent is in a lovely complete leather case with ?M. Serfuss? written in pencil on the bottom paper. ?J. D. Davis? was imprinted in the right corner of the mat. He was an accomplished daguerreian in New York City. A stunning close up death remembrance. The patina is speckled in places. The facial tinting was fantastic. Yet it was the sharpness of focus above the field of white, partially solarized blue and that shadowy background that finalized the incredible death portrait.
