One of the subjects, who posed when this pair of sixth plate dags was taken, is identified as “Lydia Ann Lefavour” by her son William when he wrote some information on a scrap of paper that came with her portrait. He noted that his mother was born July 1 1834 and that “I think (she was daguerreotyped) – probably about the time she was married 1853. If William’s birth date for his mom is correct, and he certainly should have known, the mats, preservers and delicate roses themed identical cases (but different colors) most commonly seen circa 1845 would be the latest usages of these components that I had ever seen. The second young lass wore an almost identical dress and their hairstyles certainly would indicate an early 1850s date.
