The woman is identified in the bottom of the case as Experience (Kellogg) Smith. The writer also notes that the image was “Taken after death, aged 82 years.” At least, I’m assuming her name was Experience as ‘Experance,’ which is what it looks, like is not a word or a name. This older woman’s last portrait was well made. The sixth plate dag is resealed and comes in a case with a split spine. It has some edge tarnish, a bit of which encroaches onto her head.
