A WORKING WOMAN.

There is no doubt in my mind that this woman, wearing an apron and sitting perfectly framed at the front of her wagon, had been out making deliveries. Perhaps she had pre-scheduled a stop with a man to take this quarter plate tintype of her or maybe a traveler in a different type of wagon flagged her down? I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s on the top of her wagon. It looks like either fabric or some kind of plant. Note how muddy the wheels are. The photographer was a good one and planned the lighting well. I like the use of green tinting too. The image comes in a case with a split spine.
