A PERFECT PAIR…..

Of sixth plate dags reside in a very good plastic case built for two. My first thought was that this handsome couple were married. Then, I thought to check for a wedding ring, but I noticed she wears a ring only on her pointer finger, so not yet married. They are both posed dynamically, the sign of a good maker.  The condition is fine on both plates, thought there is a slight, light haze on the underside of the glass.  A previous resealing was done by an unknown hand some years ago. I do wish people would notate their work, as for me personally it is interesting to know when certain types of tape was used and how long ago the work was done. His skin tones are so lifelike. That, combined with a perfect execution by the daguerreotypist, we can nearly feel his presence while studying this stellar plate. The young woman is about to crack a smile, while her hands are posed like she is a bit nervous. I like the subtle tinting on the table cloth as well as the slight accents of gold on her ring and pin on her key chain.  She wears a tiny floral pinned in her hair, so I wonder why the daguerreotypist didn’t pose her at a slight angle to show it off.
