What a charming sixth plate daguerreotype! The smiling mother knelt close to her tot, who sat in the painted high chair and touched her cheek to his head. Wrapping her arms around him worked, as he remained still for the portrait. The backdrop is a mottled cloth, which makes for a cool pattern against that of her dress. The image has very slight tinting and is in fine condition. It has great contrast. The image is resealed, although not by us, so some of the specks of dust you see would vanish with a new seal. They come in a half case.
