I would love to say this ambrotype is flawless, but there is a small mark on the far left and a tiny spot upper right. Other than that, the sixth plate made in the late 1850s or early 1860s has retained all the magic as when it was first made. I bet many have admired this image and thought how well preserved it is. I have not done any resealing as i just took out of the case for the first time a few minutes ago. The image is made on a think piece of glass and could probably stand to have a cover glass put on top then sealed with archival tape. The pressed paper case of a common design is split at the spine.
