When the leather case is opened by the next owner of the gentleman’s resealed half plate masterpiece, I know that no matter where the dag has relocated, I will hear my client’s exclamation of delight! You would suspect, with so much of that fancy wooden chair?s top visible and the other facts presented to me, I would instantly know who produced this amazing portrait. Alas, my endless lexicon of logical makers is not computing properly at the moment. Look at the incredible details in the subject?s strong face. The focus was exceptional. The composition couldn?t have been more exacting when this formal likeness was produced circa 1854+- a year. Need I mention the holographic depth? There are minuscule brown specks over all that do not hinder my appreciation of this tour de force. A couple mold spiders and a water mark in the drop are also present, along with faint oxidation.
