On the back, we have an explanation of that bandage: “Charles F. Gaylord Jan. 20, 1919 Third mastoid operation Dec. 19, 1918.” The photographer was Rensler’s, who had studios in Cincinnati and Cleveland. The photo is in very good condition with a little mark at the lower right.
