This quarter plate dag shows one of the more risky children’s poses. By the looks of it, it’s only the mom who kept her little girl still. She did a good job though. The little girl’s locket shows a clear reflection of a skylight, suggesting it might have held a daguerreotype. The dag was resealed in 2015 and there is just a hint of outgassing under the glass. It’s fine to leave for now though. The dag is in good condition, but there are some issues from the day it was made. The black marks on the surface (short lines and little spots) are from faults in the buffing process. They come in a case with a split spine.
