NELLIE THE GRUMP.

A slip of paper in this ninth plate ambro’s case identifies the little girl as Nellie Crippen. Her mother most assuredly stands behind her, hands seemingly in the pockets of her polka dotted dress. I don’t recall ever seeing an ambro framed like this. Cartes de visite sure, but not ambrotypes. The image is in fine condition. I didn’t even have to reseal it. Nellie’s cheeks are tinted. The case is whole with a slightly worn spine.
