SCOTTISH FAMILY. This family of five went to the Popowitz studio in Edinburgh to have their quarter plate daguerreotype made. The result is quite nicely done. The daughters look off to the side while the young son and parents look right at the camera operator. A prop balustrade and column are in the background, which was tinted blue. The ?clouds? you see are actually damage from weeping glass. When I bought the image the glass was almost entirely white with damage and moisture. The results were those funky clouds, which I quite like, and some mold spiders on the plate. I resealed with new glass, of course. The case is whole and stamped on the back.
