OLDER WAS BETTER. At least that is what I thought when I first viewed the sisters in sixth plate size before their archival restoration. Now I realize that the train passing by the small town studio at the exact moment the exposure was taken jolted both children just enough so that they were rendered blurry. Naturally, since the younger kid weighed less, her motion was even more obvious. Well . . . that was one scenario! The elder girl reluctantly placed her hand on top of her sibling’s. Neither one seemed delighted with the process. The image has excellent contrast and tonality. There are some tiny widely scattered orange dots and darkened patina near the brass mat opening. The leather case is apart.
