WAS MADELINE (MARTHA) . . . The daguerreian who made this splendid resealed sixth plate of the handsome young chap who posed wearing his entire selection of Odd Fellow’s regalia? “Fisher” was embossed backwards on the fancy tablecloth. Only the lady seems to have been in the right place at the correct time period, when he was taken, circa 1856, to have created such a fine likeness. She worked in New York City circa 1854-1856. Any other daguerreotypists listed in Craig’s either operated much earlier or for too short a duration to have been able to obtain this amazing quality! The chap is displayed in a wonderful complete leather book style H. A. Eickmeyer case that was patented Feb. 27 1855. The condition is superlative and the tinting was done with divine inspiration!
