FRIENDS . . . Held hands while they were daguerreotyped on a sixth plate probably in France. Casey restored the women and fitted them in a nice wooden frame that included the dark passe partout mat with the painted white double elliptical opening and bordered by that golden line. Patina vignetted the pleasant pair naturally. A notation was written in pen on the original blue paper backer, “19 April 1857”. A wire hanger on the reverse permits the next collector ease in displaying the portrait.
